Three Ways to Style Blush Pants

I love to buy pieces that I can style many different ways. These are the pieces on which I am willing to spend more than I normally would spend. Blush pants, for me, are the equivalent of black pants. They go with everything for every season, contrary to certain “rules of fashion” (whatever that means). This pair is from The Limited and is fully lined so they work for colder temps as well as warmer weather. I actually paid full price for these and that never happens. SN: I am a very cheap shopper, but I am a sucker for pink. Want me to buy it? Make it in pink and it’s sold. Anywho, I probably wear these pants to work every other week, all year long.  Each time I decide to wear them, I have envisioned a completely new look. Today, I am sharing with you 3 of my favorite ways to style these fabulous blush pants for work. I have also linked some options for blush pants.

My exact pants are no longer available since The Limited went out of business, but I found some other cute options here, here, and here.

How would you style your blush pants? Which one of the 3 styles presented is your fave?

Weekly Round Up: All The Prints

It has been interesting seeing all my outfits together in one place. I had never done that previously.  I never plan what I am going to wear, hence “Styled By the Spirit.” I usually just go with what I feel. I wish I was better about planning my outfits for the week, but it just doesn’t happen. I am very active in the style challenges on Instagram so sometimes I have an idea of a color or print or item of clothing that I will build the outfit around. Other times, I just go with something and usually end up hitting a few challenges without even trying. Ha!

Remember to use the following codes for additional savings:

  • Poshmark – sign up using HZTPM and receive $5 off your first purchase
  • Boho Betty – use PINKANDGABULOUS at checkout for 20% off your entire purchase

Now let’s get into it. Based on the sweaters everyday, you can tell that Winter returned. It got back down into the 30’s and I was not happy, but at least it gave me one more chance to wear my cute coats (not pictured). But it looks like sweaters and prints were the theme for this week.

Black, White, and Pink. Even though I am an avid lover of color, this combo is my all time favorite. A classic black and white look with a pop of pink is everything. Add stripes to the mix and you get perfection.

Sweater: Old Navy (option)| Skirt: Old Navy (exact) | Shoes: BCBGeneration (exact, similar) | Necklace: Lia Sophia (similar) | Bracelets: Boho Betty (exact)

Spring Plaid and Pearls. I love pairing pearls with a plaid button down. It completes the look. And these pink snake print pumps are my all time favorite pumps. They’re really old and unfortunately I couldn’t find anything even remotely similar. 🙁

Sweater: Rue 21 (similar) | Shirt: J. Crew (option) | Pants: The Limited (option) | Shoes: Nine West | Necklace: Express (similar) | Watch: JORD (exact)

Houndstooth Island Paradise. This pretty aqua color is one of this year’s fashion colors for Spring. Contrasted it with this coral floral necklace.

Sweater: Merona (option, option)| Pants: The Limited (option) | Shoes: Rampage | Necklace: J. Crew (exact)

Coral and Green for Casual Friday. I love these colors together. And it’s obvious that I can’t go a week without leopard.

Sweater: Old Navy  (option, option)| Jeans: Old Navy (exact) | Shoes: Nine West (exact, exact, option)| Bracelets: Boho Betty (exact) | Monogram Necklace: Frou Frou & Frill (exact) | Tassel Necklace: Macy’s (option, option)

Hope you enjoyed this week’s round up! BTW, either my camera is awesome or it’s junk because if my sweaters looked even remotely close to this raggedy, they would be in the trash.

Have a fabulous weekend, yall!

Casual Valentine’s Day Outfit

Can you believe it’s February already? Seems like we were just wishing each other a Happy New Year! I especially like this month because there is Valentine’s Day so it’s easy to find anything and everything in red and pink. I remember loving Valentine’s Day as a kid. Even through high school, my parents and/or boyfriend would send balloons and teddy bears to the school on that day and it was nice to get those “I Love You” and “Be Mine” gifts. I didn’t mind it then because tons of other kids would have balloons and teddy bears too so it was no big ordeal. However, I don’t like any of that funny business now. You get balloons and stuff at work as an adult, then people start “ooh’ing” and “ahh’ing” and asking questions and I don’t like that. Just bring mine home. Lol. Many people feel like Valentine’s Day is superficial and they don’t like it. Even though my husband and I don’t typically do anything special for Valentine’s Day, I’m indifferent about it. If we decide to celebrate, cool. If not, still cool. It sounds cliche’ but after being with someone for almost 23 years, it gets more and more important to focus on showing that same love each and every day. Besides, I get more excited about all the chocolate going on sale the day after Valentine’s Day.

Anyway, if we do decide to go out this year, it won’t be anything too fancy. I don’t like dressing up and neither does my hubby. So I’m sharing with you my casual Valentine’s Day look.

Coat: H&M (here, here) | Booties: BCBG (here, here, here)

So this coat, yall. I paid full price for it a couple years ago. Can you believe it? Please understand that it wasn’t $100 or anything like that, but still. They actually brought it back this year, but unfortunately it is sold out online (but I’ve linked some options). 🙁  I love the over-sized stand up collar. It makes the coat look so chic and it adds a layer of protection from the cold wind and I needed it because it was freezing outside when we took these photos. (SN: Did yall notice that I’m out? At a public park? Where people can see me?!! Yay me!!!)

I also love the details of the bold black buttons. Burgundy automatically came to mind when thinking about what I would pair with this fabulous coat. Blush pink and burgundy is one of my favorite color combos. They are such a great contrast to each other and it just works. So these burgundy booties fit the bill and were the perfect complement.

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? Do you dress up for it?

How to Wear a Duster (Petites)

I like dusters a lot. On other people. There is something about them that makes a woman look so tall, classy, and effortlessly chic when wearing it. As a vertically-challenged petite woman, I imagined that they would make me look goofy and even shorter so I never bothered even trying one. Then I spotted this pink one. And honaaaaaay, let me tell you. I was sold. I was determined to make it work whenever, wherever, however I needed to.

Duster: here | Jeans: Target (old) | Pumps: Calvin Klein (here, similar)

The material on this one is very lightweight and cardigan-like. It has a belt that can be used to tie it closed in the front. I chose to tie it in the back and keep the front open.

It was very easy to style. Maybe it has something to do with it being pink. Anyway, I grabbed some camo skinny jeans and a simple white tee so as to not take away from the duster.  The heels are the key to me wearing this duster. They add a few inches so that it’s not so long. I would probably even go a tad bit higher with the heel (depending on how much walking will be involved) just to help with the flow of duster. But for this look, I chose these blush heels and belt and completed the look with gold accessories.

Now obviously, I could have passed this one up and looked for a duster that came in petite sizes. But who has time for that?

I think this duster will also be cute with shorts and heels (definitely heels) in warmer weather. Come on, warm weather!

Sweatshirt Dress (and Spring) Fever

This Spring-like weather in Atlanta over the past couple of weeks have been giving me life! I haven’t really had to wear a jacket or anything. I feel like I can come out of hibernation. It has been great.

This hoodie sweatshirt dress also gives me life! I love the color. Olive is just one of those colors that never gets old because it is so versatile. (SN: It is tricky to photograph though because it tends to blend in with the trees or other surroundings.) I also love that it is a dress. Wait, before you get carried away about me saying that I love a dress, let me finish. I love that it is a dress because it is an easy outfit. You just throw it on and keep going. I am still not a huge dress person, but sometimes it just works. Geez. Calm down.

The material is not real thick either, making it a great transition piece going into Spring. I’m all about transition pieces that I can wear from one season to the next.

It also has a functioning double hoodie, which looks really cool. I would never use it, but it’s there.  The hoodie adds that extra chill factor.  That, and the fact that it has pockets!!! Oh honey, you couldn’t tell me nothing during this shoot. I don’t think I took a single shot without at least one hand in the pocket. ?

I paired this with the best cognac boots ever! These boots go for about $650 and I thrifted them last year for way less than that. If you know me, you know that it had to be WAAAAAAAAY less than that (el cheapo over here!). I don’t think they’d been worn more than once or twice at the most. There were absolutely no signs of wear except that there was a tiny scuff in the leather. The owner agreed to take an additional amount off to offset the cost of me taking it for shoe repair. I ended up paying less than $100. I was so pleased with myself. Of course, I never got the scuff removed either. Can you see the scuff? Exactly.

I look forward to wearing this dress with sneakers when it’s warmer. I think it will look so cute.

So I can’t help you with the boots since they were a lucky find, but you can shop this dress in most sizes (it also comes in red) in my closet on Poshmark. Use code “HZTPM” and you’ll get $5 off.

Have a fabulous weekend, yall!

Leopard for Christmas

It’s Christmas party season! Many of us are getting our outfits together for the office parties and other holiday parties. Many are looking for the perfect red and/or green outfit, but yall already know I’m not about that traditional life. Check out this easy breezy non-traditional holiday look.

Dress: H&M (old) | Booties: Nine West

This leopard body dress gives you bold and sexy. Paired with these peep-toe fringe booties with a chunky heel, you get edgy. Topping it off with blingy gold accessories, you get festive. Altogether, you have the perfect holiday look!

SN: For an added edge to the look, throw on a moto jacket. ?

I actually wore this to a Poshmark party in L.A. a few months ago, but I would totally rock this for the office Christmas party. See how my eyes are about closed? I was feeling myself a little too much. Lol! Nah, my photographer was snapping away, catching me off guard. Fun times.

So, what do you wear to your Christmas party?
